The Ocean Grove & District Men’s Shed was founded in 2009 and currently includes over 50 active members from the area. The men’s shed aims to provide support and social environments particularly for men who have retired and have felt detached from the community or social situations. It is also a good opportunity to learn or teach other members of the shed certain aspects of trades whilst creating products which also supports local community groups. The shed is open five days a week, which enables members to come as regularly as they like as there is no commitment to come in on a specific day every week. The primary purpose is to create a safe, friendly and inclusive environment where men are able to gather and work on meaningful projects at their own pace, in their own time and with the company of other men. This advances the health and well-being of the participants within the shed.
